Disabling sorting in ClickUp lets you take manual control of your task order by using drag and drop instead of automatic sort rules. You can clear an active sort directly from any view in just a few clicks.
Steps
- In your selected ClickUp view, locate the sort icon — usually displayed as a filter or sort symbol in the toolbar.
- Click the sort icon to open the sorting options and begin applying a sort.
- Tasks will sort in descending order by default; click the Sort button again if you need to change the sort direction.
- Click the Clear sort button to disable sorting entirely on the current view.
- With sorting disabled, drag and drop tasks to manually arrange them in the order you prefer.
- Your tasks are now manually organized — sorting is fully disabled and your custom task order is preserved.
