Use this interactive demo to learn how to set up a webhook trigger button inside your Coda doc.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows you how to create a webhook trigger in Coda by adding a Trigger Hook button to your doc and connecting it to an external automation URL. In just a few steps, you can fire webhook-invoked workflows directly from a Coda document without writing any code.

Steps

  1. Inside your Coda doc, head to the top-right corner and click Insert.
  2. Click the search bar and type Trigger Hook to find the component.
  3. Scroll to the Button section, select the Trigger Hook option, and drag it into your main workspace.
  4. Tap Connect an Account to link your Coda account to the webhook integration.
  5. Enter your preferred API Token Name in the input field, then click Continue.
  6. Tap the URL input field and paste the URL from your webhook-invoked automation.
  7. Click anywhere in your Coda doc to apply the changes.
  8. The Trigger Hook button is now active — tap it anytime to fire your Coda webhook.

📌 Why this matters

Webhook triggers in Coda let teams connect their documents directly to external automations, APIs, and third-party tools without leaving their workspace. By adding a Trigger Hook button, users can fire real-time workflows — such as sending data to Zapier, Make, or a custom API endpoint — with a single click inside a Coda doc. This eliminates manual handoffs between tools and makes Coda a true automation hub for operations, engineering, and product teams. Setting up webhook triggers in Coda is one of the fastest ways to extend your document-based workflows into a fully integrated, no-code automation pipeline.
