You can create a Jira ticket from Slack by installing the Jira Cloud app and using the /jira create slash command — no need to switch tools. Once connected, teams can log issues, set assignees, and track work in Jira without ever leaving their Slack workspace.
Steps
- Log in to your Slack account and navigate to Apps.
- Select Manage and click Browse apps.
- Search for Jira and select Add on Jira Cloud.
- Click Add to Slack to proceed with the installation.
- Select Allow to grant Jira Cloud the required Slack permissions.
- If your Slack email differs from your Atlassian email, click Proceed to continue linking accounts.
- Select Go to Slack to be redirected back to your workspace.
- In the Slack message bar, type /jira create and hit Enter.
- Use the dropdown to select a project and issue type.
- Fill in the ticket fields such as summary, description, and assignee.
- Click Submit — Slack will send a confirmation message and the Jira ticket will be created instantly.
