Quick summary

Asana task templates let teams standardize recurring workflows by converting any existing task into a reusable template in just a few clicks. Once converted, the task template appears in your project dashboard and can be reopened or reused whenever needed.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project where you want to create the task template.
  2. Select a task and open it.
  3. Click the three-dot menu (ellipsis) in the top-right corner of the task window.
  4. Select 'Convert task to template' from the menu.
  5. A confirmation notification pops up confirming the action.
  6. The converted task template will appear in your project dashboard — click on it to view it.
  7. Your template is ready. You can also choose to 'Reopen task' whenever you want.

📌 Why this matters

Task templates in Asana eliminate repetitive setup work by letting teams convert any existing task into a reusable template in seconds. This ensures consistent task structures across projects, reducing errors and saving time on recurring workflows. For teams managing repeated processes — such as onboarding, approvals, or campaign launches — Asana task templates provide a scalable way to standardize execution without starting from scratch each time.
