How To Create Forms in HubSpot

Updated on:
May 8, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and publish a lead capture form in HubSpot.

Quick summary

HubSpot's Forms tool lets you create and publish lead capture forms directly from the Marketing menu, with full control over fields, styling, and submission behavior. Once live, forms can be embedded on a webpage or shared via a direct URL to start capturing leads immediately.

Steps

  1. From the Marketing dropdown, navigate to Lead Capture then select Forms.
  2. Click the Create form option to start building a new form.
  3. Choose the appropriate form type based on where you plan to use it, then click Next in the top right corner.
  4. Start with a blank form or select a template that matches your use case, then click Start.
  5. Use the properties panel on the left to add form fields, and click any added field on the right to edit it.
  6. If you can't find the field you need, create a new custom property directly from the form builder.
  7. Review the available form options to configure submission and behavior settings.
  8. Ensure the correct lifecycle stage is selected for contacts who submit the form.
  9. Configure how submissions are tagged and how the form behaves after a user completes it.
  10. Under Style & preview, adjust the look and feel of the form, then click Update when finished.
  11. Click Publish to make the form live.
  12. Copy the embed code to add the form to a webpage, or share the form URL directly with your audience.

📌 Why this matters

HubSpot Forms is a core lead generation tool that enables marketing teams to capture, qualify, and route prospects directly into their CRM without any coding. By configuring lifecycle stages, submission behaviors, and field properties in one place, teams can ensure every form submission is correctly tracked and attributed. The ability to instantly publish and embed forms — or share them via URL — reduces time-to-launch and keeps lead data clean and actionable inside HubSpot.
