Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and customize a dashboard in Jira.

Quick summary

A Jira dashboard lets you consolidate project data into a single, customizable view using gadgets. You can create a dashboard in minutes by naming it, setting permissions, adding gadgets, and arranging the layout to fit your team's workflow.

Steps

  1. In the top navigation, click the Dashboards dropdown and select Create Dashboard.
  2. Name your dashboard and add a description to identify it clearly.
  3. Add viewers and editors as needed, then click Save.
  4. In the top-right corner, click Add gadget to open the gadget panel.
  5. Select a gadget from the right pane and click Add to place it on your dashboard.
  6. Confirm the gadget has been successfully added to your dashboard.
  7. Click Change layout in the top-right to switch the dashboard's column structure.
  8. Drag and drop gadgets to reorganize and arrange information to your preference.

📌 Why this matters

Jira dashboards give teams a real-time, centralized view of project health, sprint progress, and issue metrics — all in one place. Being able to quickly create and configure a dashboard with custom gadgets helps project managers and developers stay aligned without switching between multiple reports. Customizable layouts and drag-and-drop organization mean every team member can surface the data that matters most to their role. For agile teams managing multiple projects, a well-structured Jira dashboard is essential for faster decision-making and clearer accountability.
