How to Create a Content Calendar in ClickUp

Updated on:
May 11, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to build a content calendar in ClickUp from scratch.

Quick summary

A content calendar in ClickUp is built by creating a dedicated Space, organizing content types into Folders and Lists, and using a Calendar View to schedule and manage tasks. Teams can add due dates, assignees, tags, subtasks, and automation rules to streamline the entire content production workflow.

Steps

  1. Click the ellipsis icon to open the menu and create a new Space.
  2. Click '+Create Space' to begin setting up your new Space.
  3. Name the Space and click 'Continue' to proceed.
  4. Customize the Space settings as needed, then click 'Create Space'.
  5. Within your Space, click the ellipsis icon to access more options.
  6. Select '+Create new' and click 'Folder' to add a Folder.
  7. Name the Folder and click 'Create Folder' to confirm.
  8. Inside the Folder, create different Lists for various content types.
  9. Click the '+View' option to add a Calendar View to your List.
  10. Choose 'Calendar' from the list of available views.
  11. Give your calendar a name to identify it easily.
  12. Click the '+' button to create a new task for each piece of content.
  13. Name the task to describe the content item.
  14. Add details such as descriptions, due dates, assignees, tags, and custom fields, then click 'Save'.
  15. Drag and drop tasks within the calendar to schedule them appropriately.
  16. Add tags to categorize and filter tasks easily.
  17. Add subtasks to break each content task into smaller, manageable steps.
  18. Click the 'Automation' button in the upper right corner to set up automation rules.
  19. Click the 'Share' button to invite team members to collaborate on the content calendar.

📌 Why this matters

A content calendar built in ClickUp gives marketing and content teams a single, centralized workspace to plan, assign, and track every piece of content from idea to publication. ClickUp's Calendar View, custom fields, and task automation eliminate the need for separate spreadsheets or project management tools, reducing scheduling gaps and missed deadlines. Teams can filter content by tags, assign due dates, and break work into subtasks, making it easy to manage high-volume content production at scale. For organizations looking to improve content workflow efficiency and cross-team collaboration, ClickUp provides a fully customizable solution that adapts to any content strategy.
