How to Change Project Key in Jira

‍

Changing a project key in Jira is a straightforward process but requires project admin or Jira admin permissions. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Select the project for which you want to change the key.
  2. Once in the project, click on 'Project settings' in the left-hand menu.
  3. In the 'Details' page, you'll see the 'Project Key' field.
  4. Edit the 'Project Key' field to the new desired key.
  5. Click 'Save' to apply the changes.
  6. This change can only be done if you're a Jira admin or have the necessary permissions, and it cannot be undone easily. Make sure the new project key is what you want before saving the changes.
