Quick summary
Your YouTube engagement rate is calculated by adding likes and comments, dividing by total views, and multiplying by 100 — all data points found inside YouTube Studio Analytics. Tracking this metric across videos helps you identify which content resonates most and refine your content strategy.
Steps
- Go to studio.youtube.com and click Content in the left sidebar.
- Click the analytics icon (bar chart) next to the video you want to calculate engagement for.
- On the Overview tab, note the total Views figure for your chosen date range.
- Go to the Engagement tab and click Advanced mode in the top-right corner.
- Note the total likes and comment count shown on the page.
- Apply the engagement rate formula: add likes and comments together, divide by total views, then multiply by 100.
- Track this figure over time across multiple videos to identify which content consistently drives higher engagement and use that to inform your content strategy.
