How to Animate Text in Canva

Updated on:
May 11, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to add animated text effects to your Canva designs.

Quick summary

Canva's built-in Animate feature lets you apply text animations to any text box in your design with just a few clicks. You can customize animation intensity, speed, and style, then save and share your project directly from the editor.

Steps

  1. Open an existing project in Canva where you want to add animated text.
  2. Click on the text box to select it.
  3. With the text box selected, click the Animate button in the top toolbar.
  4. Browse the animation options menu that appears and choose your preferred text animation.
  5. Customize the animation further by adjusting the intensity, writing style, and speed settings.
  6. If needed, click Remove animation to clear the current effect and try a different one.
  7. Once satisfied, click Share to save and publish your animated design.

📌 Why this matters

Canva's text animation feature enables designers, marketers, and content creators to produce eye-catching, professional-quality animated visuals without any coding or video editing skills. Adding animated text to presentations, social media graphics, and promotional materials significantly boosts audience engagement and visual impact. The ability to customize animation speed, intensity, and style directly within the Canva editor streamlines the design workflow and reduces time-to-publish. For teams creating branded content at scale, Canva's animate tools offer a fast, no-cost alternative to dedicated motion graphics software.
