How to Add Time Estimate in Clickup

Use this interactive demo to learn how to enable and set time estimates on ClickUp tasks.

Quick summary

The Time Estimate field in ClickUp lets teams assign expected durations to tasks directly from the List view, improving project planning and deadline management. Enabling it takes under a minute via the Customize Board settings and applies instantly to all task cards in the Space.


Steps

  1. Go to the Space where the target task is located.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the view, click Customize.
  3. From the Customize Board modal, select Fields.
  4. Under the Hidden section, click Time Estimate to enable it.
  5. The Time Estimate field will now appear on task cards in the List view — click it on the relevant task.
  6. A popup window will appear where you can enter the estimated time.
  7. Input the time in your preferred format to save the time estimate and keep your team on track.
