Use this interactive demo to learn how to set up hidden fields using URL parameters in Typeform.

Quick summary

Hidden fields in Typeform let you capture extra data — like source, campaign, or user ID — through URL parameters without showing those fields to respondents. This guide walks you through the Workflow panel to create, name, and share a form link with hidden field parameters already embedded.

Steps

  1. Open your form from your workspace to get started with the editor.
  2. At the top of your screen, click "Workflow" to access form automation options.
  3. Click on the "Pull data in" option to set up your URL parameters.
  4. Click "+ Add new parameter" to create a new hidden field.
  5. Name your parameter using lowercase letters and underscores instead of spaces.
  6. Click "Save" to confirm your new parameter.
  7. Head over to the "Share" panel after publishing your form to see your parameters in action.
  8. Click "Copy link" to grab your form URL with the parameters included, ready to paste wherever you need it.

📌 Why this matters

Hidden fields in Typeform allow teams to silently pass contextual data — such as UTM parameters, user IDs, or campaign sources — through form URLs without disrupting the respondent experience. This makes it possible to automatically segment and enrich form responses with data that already exists in your marketing or CRM systems. For growth and operations teams, hidden fields eliminate manual data entry and ensure every submission is tagged with the right attribution from the start. Setting up hidden fields via the Workflow panel takes under two minutes and requires no code, making it accessible to any Typeform user.
