Use this interactive demo to learn how to set up a new Google Analytics account from scratch.

Quick summary

This walkthrough shows you how to create a new account in Google Analytics by navigating the Admin panel, configuring account and property settings, and accepting the terms to complete setup. Follow each step to get your Google Analytics account live and ready to collect data.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Admin > Create in your Google Analytics interface.
  2. Select Account as the resource type to create.
  3. Enter an Account name for your new Google Analytics account.
  4. Set a Property name, update the Reporting time zone, and select your Currency.
  5. Click Next to proceed to the following setup step.
  6. Select any product communication checkboxes you want to opt into, then click Next.
  7. Choose your Business size and Industry, then hit Next.
  8. Select Get baseline reports as your business objective and click Create.
  9. Select the Platform you want to collect data for — choose Web to track website traffic.
  10. Check the agreement box and click Accept to finalize your Google Analytics account setup.

📌 Why this matters

Setting up a Google Analytics account correctly is the essential first step to tracking website traffic, measuring user behavior, and making data-driven marketing decisions. Without a properly configured account — including the right property name, reporting time zone, currency, and platform — your analytics data can be incomplete or misleading. This demo matters because it removes the guesswork from the Google Analytics account creation process, guiding users through every required field and setting in the Admin panel. Teams that get this foundation right unlock accurate reporting, better attribution, and faster insights across their digital properties.
