Adding a status to a column in Jira lets teams align their board layout with their project workflow by mapping statuses through the Configure board settings. Unmapped statuses can be dragged and dropped into the appropriate column, keeping your Jira board accurate and up to date.
Steps
- Navigate to your Jira project.
- In the sidebar, select the ellipsis icon located at the upper right side of your board.
- Select 'Configure board'.
- Click 'Columns'.
- If the status exists in the workflow but is not yet assigned, find it in the 'Unmapped Statuses' section and drag and drop it into the appropriate column.
- After dragging, confirm the status now appears under the column you assigned it to.
- Your board columns are now aligned with your workflow statuses.
