Use this interactive demo to learn how to embed a Jira issue link inside a Confluence page.

Quick summary

Adding a Jira link in Confluence lets teams surface live issue tracking data directly inside their documentation pages. Using the built-in Jira Issue macro, you can search for or paste any issue URL and publish it in seconds.

Steps

  1. In your Jira dashboard, navigate to the menu to access your Confluence page.
  2. Under Apps, select Confluence.
  3. Open the Confluence page where you want to add the Jira link.
  4. In the editor, click the + (Insert More Content) button from the toolbar.
  5. Select Jira Issue from the content options.
  6. In the dialog box, search for or paste the Jira Issue Link.
  7. After selecting the issue, click Insert issues.
  8. Once satisfied with the content, click Publish to make the changes visible.
  9. Your Jira issues are now embedded in Confluence, enabling smoother collaboration and tracking.

📌 Why this matters

Linking Jira issues directly inside Confluence pages eliminates the need to switch between tools to check issue status, priority, or assignees. Teams that embed live Jira issue data in their documentation keep project context and task tracking in one place, reducing communication overhead. This integration is essential for engineering and product teams using the Atlassian ecosystem who want their specifications, runbooks, or meeting notes to reflect real-time project progress without manual updates.
