Use this interactive demo to learn how to change page orientation in your MS Access reports.

Quick summary

Setting page orientation in MS Access reports lets you switch between Portrait and Landscape layouts using the Page Setup tab in Design View. The orientation change applies only to the current report and can be saved instantly without affecting other reports in your database.

Steps

  1. In the Navigation Pane, right-click the report you want to modify and select Design View from the context menu.
  2. Go to the Page Setup tab in the Ribbon at the top of the screen.
  3. In the Page Layout group, click Portrait or Landscape to set the desired page orientation.
  4. After setting the orientation, save the changes by clicking Save.
  5. Select Report Design to confirm the layout.
  6. Click Views to switch the display mode.
  7. Open the report in Report View or Print Preview to verify the orientation.
  8. The orientation settings apply only to the current report — no further action needed.

📌 Why this matters

Controlling page orientation in MS Access reports is essential for presenting data clearly — wide tables and multi-column layouts often require Landscape mode to avoid content being cut off when printed. MS Access provides a quick, report-specific orientation setting via the Page Setup tab, meaning changes never accidentally affect other reports in your database. This makes it a critical formatting step for database administrators and business users who regularly generate printed or PDF reports from Access. Getting orientation right the first time reduces reprints, improves readability, and ensures professional-looking output for stakeholders.
