This demo shows how to restore a WordPress site to a previous version using the free WP Downgrade plugin. By following these steps, site owners can safely revert or upgrade their WordPress core without touching the server or database manually.
Steps
- Log in to your WordPress account and confirm your current WordPress version (e.g., version 6.6).
- Navigate to Plugins in the dashboard and click Add New Plugin.
- Search for WordPress Downgrade, click Install Now, and then click Activate.
- Go to Settings and click WP Downgrade to open the plugin configuration page.
- Type in the target version you want to downgrade or upgrade to, then click Save Changes.
- Click the Up-/ Downgrade Core button to begin the version switch.
- Choose Re-install version 6.5.5 (or your selected version) to confirm and apply the change.
- Your WordPress site has been successfully reverted or upgraded to the desired version.
