Quick summary
Password protecting a WordPress page restricts access so only users with the correct password can view the content. This is done directly from the WordPress dashboard using the built-in Status & Visibility settings — no plugin required.
Steps
- Go to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Posts or Pages, and select the post or page you want to protect.
- Click on the settings icon to open the post settings panel.
- Select Published to proceed to the visibility options.
- Under the Status & Visibility section, click on the checkbox for Password protected.
- Enter a password in the field that appears.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
- Select View post to confirm the page is properly password protected.
- Verify that visitors are prompted to enter the password before they can view the content.
