How to Make a Timeline on ClickUp

Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and manage a timeline view in ClickUp.

Quick summary

ClickUp's Timeline view lets you visualize tasks and project milestones on a date-based chart, making it easy to track progress and manage workloads across any Space, Folder, or List. You can create, customize, and assign tasks directly within the timeline without leaving your workspace.


Steps

  1. Navigate to the Space, Folder, or List where you want to create the timeline view.
  2. Click the '+View' icon next to the existing views at the top of the page.
  3. From the dropdown menu, select 'Timeline'.
  4. Name your new timeline view when prompted.
  5. Open the timeline settings to customize the view to your preferences.
  6. Click on the space under a date to add and manage tasks on the timeline.
  7. Enter a task name in the empty field provided.
  8. Add an assignee, priority, and time estimate, then click 'Save' to save the task.
  9. Review your first task now appearing on the timeline view.
  10. Open the task and write a comment to collaborate with your team.
  11. Your ClickUp timeline is ready — use it to visualize and track tasks and project milestones over time.
