Use this interactive demo to learn how to enable and use inline editing directly within Salesforce reports.

Quick summary

This demo shows how to enable inline editing in Salesforce Reports by toggling the setting in Reports and Dashboards Settings under Setup, then using Enable Field Editing to make quick edits directly from any report without leaving the page.

Steps

  1. Click the Gear icon in the top right corner and select Setup from the dropdown menu.
  2. Search for Reports and Dashboards Settings using the Quick Find search bar in Setup.
  3. Turn on Enable Inline Editing in Reports by toggling the setting.
  4. Save your changes to apply the inline editing configuration.
  5. Navigate to the Reports section from the main navigation.
  6. Open any one of your existing reports to verify the new setting.
  7. Confirm the Enable Field Editing button is now visible above the report.
  8. Look for the edit icon displayed next to each field in the report.
  9. Make quick edits to record fields directly from within the report view.

📌 Why this matters

Salesforce inline editing in reports eliminates the need to open individual records just to update a field, saving sales and operations teams significant time. By enabling the Enable Inline Editing in Reports setting, users can edit field values directly from a report, keeping data accurate without breaking their workflow. This feature is critical for revenue teams that rely on Salesforce reports to manage pipelines, campaigns, and forecasts in real time. Faster data updates mean cleaner CRM data and better decision-making across the organization.
