How to Deploy List View Button Layout Salesforce

Updated on:
May 11, 2026

Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to customize the List View Button Layout in Salesforce Object Manager.

Quick summary

The Salesforce List View Button Layout controls which action buttons appear in an object's list view, such as the Lead object. Admins can deploy or edit this layout directly through Object Manager in Salesforce Setup without writing any code.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Setup in the top-right corner and open Object Manager.
  2. Locate and click on the specific object where you want to add or change the button.
  3. Select Lead (or your target object) from the object list.
  4. Find List View Button Layout in the left navigation pane.
  5. Click the down arrow on the existing layout and select Edit.
  6. Check or uncheck the buttons you want to display in the list view.
  7. Click Save to apply your changes.

📌 Why this matters

Customizing the Salesforce List View Button Layout allows admins to surface the most relevant action buttons directly within any object's list view, reducing clicks and streamlining day-to-day workflows. By controlling which buttons appear — such as on the Lead object — teams can enforce consistent processes and improve user adoption across the organization. This configuration is managed entirely through Object Manager in Salesforce Setup, making it a no-code, low-effort change with high operational impact. For sales and ops teams managing large volumes of records, a well-configured list view button layout directly accelerates productivity.
