This tutorial shows how to add a custom event in Mixpanel by combining existing events inside an Insight Report on a board. A custom event lets you group multiple tracked events into one unified metric for cleaner, more flexible analytics reporting.
Steps
- Create a new board using the + New Board button or select an existing one.
- Customize your board and enter its name.
- Select the Add to Board option.
- Select Insight Report to add a report to the board.
- Under Metrics, click on the Select Event field.
- Next to the search bar, click on the + Create button to start creating a new event.
- Enter a name for your new custom event, then click + Add to include pre-existing events that will make up the new custom event.
- Select an event to include from the list.
- Add another event or continue to the next step.
- When done, click Save to finalize your custom event.
- Your custom event is now created in Mixpanel and tracks a combination of other events.
