Use this interactive demo to learn how to create and use toggle lists in Notion.

Quick summary

The Notion toggle list is a collapsible block that lets you hide and reveal content on demand, keeping pages clean and organized. You can add any content inside a toggle — including notes, checklists, and details — using a simple slash command.

Steps

  1. Click an empty space on the Notion page to place your cursor.
  2. Type /toggle to open the block command menu.
  3. Select Toggle list from the dropdown menu.
  4. Type the title or question you want to display on the toggle.
  5. Click the arrow beside the toggle to open it.
  6. Add your hidden content inside the toggle, such as notes, details, or checklist items.
  7. Click the arrow again to collapse the toggle and hide the content.
  8. Your toggle block is now added to your Notion page, ready to organize and hide extra details.

📌 Why this matters

Notion's toggle list block is a powerful way to keep pages readable by hiding secondary information behind collapsible sections. Teams and individuals use toggles to organize FAQs, meeting notes, checklists, and reference details without cluttering the main view. Mastering the toggle block helps Notion users build cleaner, more navigable workspaces that scale with complex projects. It is one of the most versatile formatting tools available in Notion for structured content management.
