Quick summary
Notion's equation feature lets you insert LaTeX-formatted math as either a standalone block equation or an inline equation within a sentence. You can add, save, and edit equations directly on any Notion page without any third-party tools.
Steps
- Open your Notion page and type /equation, then select Block Equation from the menu.
- Type your equation in the equation box — for example, enter x^2 + y^2 = z^2.
- Click outside the equation box to save it as a separate equation block.
- To add an inline equation, type your text first to position your cursor inside a sentence.
- Place your cursor where you want the equation, type /inline equation, and select Inline Equation from the menu.
- Enter your equation — such as E = mc^2 — then press Enter.
- Finish your sentence and the equation will appear inline with the rest of your text.
- To edit an equation, click it and update the formula in the editor.
