ChatGPT's Temporary Chat mode lets you have a private conversation that won't appear in your chat history or be used to train OpenAI's models. Because temporary chats vanish when the window closes, you must manually copy the content to save it.
Steps
- Click the model name in the top left corner to open your chat options.
- Find the Temporary Chat icon and click it to enable incognito mode — no saving, no model training.
- Type your prompt and chat normally inside the Temporary Chat session.
- Hit the send button to submit your message.
- To save the conversation, click the copy icon and paste the content into a document, email, or note-taking app — ChatGPT has no native Save button for Temporary Chats.
