Use this interactive demo to learn how to unnest and clean up Callout blocks in Notion.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows you how to remove nested Callout blocks in Notion by using the six-dot drag handle to move them outside the parent callout, or by using Turn into text to strip the callout style entirely.

Steps

  1. On your Notion page, hover over the nested Callout block you want to remove.
  2. Wait for the six-dot handle to appear on the left side of the nested callout block.
  3. Click and hold the six-dot handle and drag the nested callout outside the main callout block.
  4. Drop the block above or below the main callout to place it as a standalone block.
  5. Click the six-dot handle again on the moved callout to confirm its new position.
  6. Repeat these steps until all unwanted nested callouts have been removed.
  7. Alternatively, right-click any callout block, hover over Turn into, and select text to remove the callout style and convert it to regular text.

📌 Why this matters

Notion's callout blocks are powerful for highlighting information, but nested callouts can quickly make pages cluttered and hard to navigate. Knowing how to remove nested callouts in Notion helps users maintain clean, readable page structures without losing content. The drag-and-drop six-dot handle method gives teams a fast, no-code way to reorganize blocks, while the Turn into text option lets users strip formatting in one click. These skills are essential for anyone managing knowledge bases, wikis, or team documentation in Notion.
