Quick summary
This tutorial shows how to create a picture-in-text effect on Google Slides using Word Art and layered images. By combining a thick display font with a background image sent behind the text, you can produce a striking transparent text effect without any third-party tools.
Steps
- Open a blank presentation in Google Slides.
- In the menu bar, click Insert then click Word Art.
- Type your word in the pop-up box that appears, then hit Enter.
- While your Word Art is selected, go to the main menu, click the font style field, and click More fonts.
- Search for Zilla Slab Highlight, select it, then click Done. Alternatively, use thick fonts like Alfa Slab One or Archivo Black.
- Go back to the main menu, click Insert, and choose your image upload method — for example, Stock & web.
- Search for an image and click it to add it to your slide.
- Move, resize, and crop the image as needed so it fits inside the word.
- Right-click the image, hover over Order, and select Send to back.
- Adjust the Word Art colors or borders so the picture shows clearly inside the letters.
