Quick summary
ChatGPT's Temporary Chat mode lets you have a private conversation that won't appear in your chat history or be used for model training. Enabling it takes just two clicks from the main interface.
Steps
- Click the model name in the top left of the ChatGPT interface — this is where you access your privacy settings.
- Toggle on "Temporary chat" to keep the conversation off the record — no history saved, no model training.
- Type your message as normal — the chat works exactly like a regular conversation, but privately.
- You're done — your conversation won't be saved or used for training, so you can chat freely.
