Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and set up a wiki in Notion.

Quick summary

Notion's built-in wiki feature lets teams organize knowledge into structured, searchable pages with sections, categories, and ownership tracking. You can convert any Notion page into a wiki in seconds using the page menu's "Turn into wiki" option.

Steps

  1. Open Notion and add a heading for your wiki page.
  2. Create a table with columns like Section Name and Description, then fill in sample wiki sections such as Company Overview, Team Guidelines, Project Resources, Meeting Notes, FAQs, and Onboarding.
  3. Add another heading for Sample wiki pages and create a second table with columns like Page Name, Category, Owner, and Status, then fill in sample pages such as Team Mission, Communication Rules, Project Briefs, Weekly Meeting Notes, Common Questions, and New Member Checklist.
  4. Click the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of the page to open the page menu.
  5. Select Turn into wiki from the menu to convert the page.
  6. Your Notion page is now a wiki — continue adding sections, pages, and resources as your content grows.

📌 Why this matters

Notion's wiki feature gives teams a centralized, structured knowledge base that scales as the organization grows. By converting any page into a wiki, teams can organize documentation with clear ownership, categories, and statuses — reducing information silos and onboarding friction. This matters because searchable, well-structured internal wikis directly improve team productivity and knowledge retention. For companies evaluating Notion as a knowledge management solution, this feature demonstrates how quickly a fully functional wiki can be built without any third-party tools.
