Quick summary
Linking two Notion databases using a Relation property lets you create cross-database connections so tasks and projects stay in sync. This step-by-step walkthrough shows you exactly how to add a Relation, select a target database, and map individual records between them.
Steps
- Open the first Notion database you want to connect — for example, Database 1 containing projects like Website Redesign and Social Media Plan.
- Make sure you have a second database ready — for example, Database 2 with tasks like Homepage Wireframe, Update About Page, and Draft Instagram Posts.
- In Database 1, click the + icon to add a new property.
- Select Relation from the property type list.
- Choose Database 2 from the list of data sources.
- Rename the relation property if needed, then click Add relation to confirm.
- Click a cell under the new Relation property and select the related task from Database 2 — for example, connect Homepage Wireframe to Website Redesign.
- Repeat the same process to link the remaining projects and tasks between both databases.
