How to Hide a Database in Notion

Use this interactive demo to learn how to collapse and hide a Notion database using toggle lists.

Quick summary

Notion does not have a built-in option to hide a database, but you can use a toggle list as a workaround to collapse and conceal any database from your Notion page view.

Steps

  1. Open the Notion page that contains the database you want to hide.
  2. Click below the database, type /toggle list, and select Toggle list from the menu.
  3. Confirm the toggle list is now available and ready to contain the database.
  4. Hover over the database until the six-dot handle appears on the left side.
  5. Click and drag the six-dot handle toward the toggle and drop the database inside the Toggle list.
  6. Verify your database is now hidden inside the toggle — note this is a workaround since Notion lacks a native hide option.
  7. Click the toggle arrow to collapse it and click again to fully hide the database from page view.

📌 Why this matters

Notion does not include a native option to hide a database from page view, making pages cluttered and harder to navigate. Using a toggle list to conceal a database gives teams a clean, collapsible workspace without requiring any third-party tools or integrations. This workaround is essential for Notion power users who manage complex pages with multiple databases and want to control what is visible at a glance. Mastering this technique improves page organization and overall Notion productivity.
