Use this interactive demo to learn how to bulk export attachments and files directly from Salesforce.

Quick summary

Salesforce's built-in Data Export tool lets admins export attachments, images, and documents alongside their org data in just a few clicks. By enabling the Include images, documents, and attachments option in Advanced Setup, you can ensure all file content is included in your scheduled or manual export.

Steps

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right menu of the Salesforce dashboard to open Setup options.
  2. Select Open Advanced Setup from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Quick Find search box, search for and select Data Export.
  4. Check the option Include images, documents, and attachments to include them in the exported data you will choose.
  5. Click Start Export to begin the attachment export process.

📌 Why this matters

Exporting attachments from Salesforce is a critical step for data migrations, compliance audits, and backup strategies. Salesforce's native Data Export feature allows administrators to include images, documents, and attachments alongside CRM records, ensuring no files are left behind. This capability is essential for organizations that store contracts, invoices, or support documents as Salesforce attachments. Understanding this process helps Salesforce admins maintain complete, portable backups of their org's data.
