Use this interactive demo to learn how to grant administrators access to log in as any Salesforce user.

Quick summary

This demo walks Salesforce administrators through enabling the Login as Another User feature via Login Access Policies in Advanced Setup. Once configured, admins can access any active user's session directly from the Users list to troubleshoot and support accounts efficiently.

Steps

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right menu of the Salesforce dashboard to open setup options.
  2. Select Open Advanced Setup from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Quick Find search box, search for and select Login Access Policies.
  4. Enable Administrators Can Log In as Any User or Available to Administrators Only, then click Save.
  5. Return to the Quick Find search box and search for and select Users.
  6. View the Users list — a Login link will now appear next to active users. Click Login to access that user's session.

📌 Why this matters

The Login as Another User feature in Salesforce is a critical administrative tool that allows system administrators to troubleshoot user-specific issues without requiring credentials from the affected user. By configuring Login Access Policies in Advanced Setup, admins can quickly diagnose permission errors, replicate reported bugs, and provide hands-on support — all within the actual user session. This capability reduces support resolution time and improves the overall Salesforce admin workflow. It is especially valuable for enterprise teams managing large user bases across complex Salesforce orgs.
