📌 Why this matters

QGIS is the leading open-source GIS platform used by cartographers, analysts, and geospatial professionals worldwide to create publication-ready maps. Editing the map legend in QGIS Print Layout is essential for producing clear, professional cartographic outputs where legend labels, fonts, sizing, and positioning must match specific design or reporting standards. Mastering the Item Properties panel allows users to fully control legend visibility, symbol arrangement, and visual styling without relying on external tools. This capability is critical for anyone producing spatial data reports, academic maps, or client-facing GIS deliverables.
