Use this interactive demo to learn how to permanently remove AI-generated images from your ChatGPT library.

Quick summary

ChatGPT stores every AI-generated image in a dedicated Images library accessible from the sidebar. You can permanently delete any image in a few clicks using the three-dot menu inside that library.

Steps

  1. Click More in the sidebar to open the menu where your generated images are stored.
  2. Select Images to view all the AI-generated images ChatGPT has created for you.
  3. Click on the image you want to delete — it will highlight to show it is selected.
  4. Click the three-dot icon next to the image to reveal your options.
  5. Optionally choose Open in chat to review the conversation where this image was generated.
  6. Click the three-dot menu again to bring up the delete option.
  7. Select Delete to remove this generated image from your library permanently.
  8. Confirm by clicking Delete once more to complete the removal.

📌 Why this matters

Managing your ChatGPT image library matters because AI-generated images accumulate quickly and can clutter your workspace. The ability to permanently delete unwanted images gives users direct control over their stored content and personal data. For anyone using ChatGPT's image generation features regularly, knowing how to clean up the Images library keeps the experience organized and efficient. This feature is especially important for users who care about data privacy and maintaining a tidy ChatGPT account.
