Quick summary

Cropping a PowerPoint slide means changing its slide size via the Design tab to fit a custom aspect ratio or dimensions. You can choose a preset size or manually set width and height in the Page Setup dialog, then scale content to match.

Steps

  1. Inside the slide canvas, go to the top menu bar and click 'Design'.
  2. Find and click the 'Slide Size' option in the ribbon.
  3. Click 'Page Setup' to open the size configuration dialog.
  4. Click the drop-down menu next to 'Slide Sized For' to see preset options.
  5. Choose a preset size based on how you want to crop your slide.
  6. Alternatively, manually adjust the width and height values to set a custom crop.
  7. Click 'OK' to apply the new slide dimensions.
  8. Click 'Scale' to reformat slide content to fit the new slide size.
  9. Your PowerPoint slides will now be cropped based on your configured dimensions.

📌 Why this matters

Knowing how to crop or resize a PowerPoint slide is essential for creating presentations that fit specific formats such as banners, social media graphics, or custom display sizes. PowerPoint's built-in Slide Size and Page Setup tools give users full control over slide dimensions without needing third-party software. Choosing the right aspect ratio and scaling content correctly ensures your presentation looks polished across any screen or export format. This feature saves time and eliminates layout issues when repurposing slides for different channels or audiences.
