Use this interactive demo to learn how to build a sprint dashboard in Jira from scratch.

Quick summary

A Jira sprint dashboard lets agile teams monitor sprint progress in one centralized view using customizable gadgets. This demo walks through every step to create, configure, and populate a sprint dashboard in Jira from the home page.

Steps

  1. On Jira's main home page, navigate to the left-hand panel and click the 'Create Dashboard' option next to Dashboards.
  2. Type your preferred Name and Description into the provided input fields.
  3. Configure the Viewer and Editor access permissions based on your preference.
  4. Click 'Save' to proceed and create the dashboard.
  5. Click 'Add a New Gadget' to begin adding sprint widgets to the dashboard.
  6. Find the sprint-related gadget you want to add and click its corresponding 'Add' button.
  7. Provide the necessary details and configure the gadget settings as required.
  8. Click 'Save' to apply the gadget configuration.
  9. Return to the right-hand panel and choose another sprint-related gadget; repeat until all preferred gadgets are added.
  10. Click 'Done' to apply all changes to the dashboard.
  11. Your Jira sprint dashboard is now created and ready to use.

📌 Why this matters

Jira sprint dashboards give agile teams a single, real-time view of sprint health, burndown progress, and workload distribution — eliminating the need to jump between boards and reports. By centralizing key sprint metrics through configurable gadgets, teams can identify blockers faster and make data-driven decisions during standups and sprint reviews. For Scrum masters and project managers evaluating Jira, the dashboard feature is a core productivity tool that surfaces the insights needed to keep sprints on track and stakeholders informed.
