Use this interactive demo to learn how to bulk update the fix version across multiple Jira tickets at once.

Quick summary

Jira's bulk change feature lets you update the fix version across multiple tickets simultaneously, saving time compared to editing each issue individually. Using the Bulk Change Work Items workflow, teams can select tickets, choose an operation, and apply a new fix version in just a few clicks.

Steps

  1. In the list view of your Jira space, go to the top menu bar and click 'More Actions'.
  2. Choose 'Bulk Change Work Items' from the list of options.
  3. Tick the checkbox beside each ticket you want to edit.
  4. Click 'Next' to proceed to the next step.
  5. Tick the checkbox beside 'Edit Work Items', then click 'Next'.
  6. Find 'Change Fix Versions' and tick the checkbox beside it.
  7. Click the first drop-down menu next to it and select 'Replace All With' as the operation.
  8. Tap the next drop-down menu and choose the new fix version you want to apply.
  9. Click 'Next' to continue.
  10. Review the terms, then click 'Confirm'.
  11. The fix version of all selected Jira tickets will be bulk updated successfully.

📌 Why this matters

Manually updating the fix version on individual Jira tickets is slow and error-prone, especially for large sprints or releases. Jira's bulk change feature lets project managers and developers update the fix version across dozens of tickets in a single workflow, reducing administrative overhead significantly. This capability is critical for accurate release planning, sprint reporting, and keeping backlogs aligned with shifting delivery timelines. Teams that master bulk editing in Jira can respond faster to scope changes without losing tracking accuracy.
