Use this interactive demo to learn how to add and format time in your Notion calendar items.

Quick summary

Adding time to a Notion calendar requires editing the Date property settings on a database item. You can choose a time format — 12-hour, 24-hour, or hidden — and even set the property type to display Created time automatically.

Steps

  1. Click the date on the Notion calendar where you want to add a time.
  2. In the new calendar item, click the Date property under the database name.
  3. In the dropdown menu, select Edit property.
  4. In the property settings panel, open the Time format options.
  5. Select your preferred time format: Hidden, 12 hour, or 24 hour.
  6. Click the Type dropdown in the property settings.
  7. Select Created time from the dropdown menu if you want Notion to show when the item was created.
  8. Your Notion calendar item now includes a time.

📌 Why this matters

Notion's calendar view is a powerful project and schedule management tool, but many users don't realize they can display precise timestamps alongside dates. Adding time to Notion calendar items lets teams track deadlines, meeting times, and creation timestamps with full visibility. The ability to choose between 12-hour and 24-hour formats — or automatically surface Created time — makes Notion a more flexible scheduling solution for individuals and teams alike. This feature bridges the gap between a simple date tracker and a fully functional time-aware calendar within your existing Notion workspace.
