Use this interactive demo to learn how to track timestamps in your Notion database.

Quick summary

Adding a time property to a Notion database lets you automatically track when entries were created or last edited. This built-in feature requires no formulas — just a few clicks inside any Notion database item.

Steps

  1. Open the Notion database where you want to add a time property.
  2. Click an item in the database to open it in Side peek.
  3. In the side peek panel, click Add a property under the existing properties.
  4. Use the search bar to look for a time property.
  5. Select Created time or Last edited time, depending on the time information you want to show.
  6. Your time property is now added and will automatically display the created or last edited timestamp.

📌 Why this matters

Tracking when database entries are created or last modified is essential for project management, auditing, and accountability inside Notion. The built-in time property feature — including Created time and Last edited time — gives teams automatic, zero-maintenance timestamps on every record. This eliminates manual date logging and ensures your Notion database always reflects accurate, real-time activity history. For teams using Notion as a project tracker or CRM, time properties are a foundational tool for staying organized and audit-ready.
